Point of Salefor WooCommerce

For store managers

Set it up once, then let the counter run.

Locations, registers, card readers and staff access live in wp-admin, next to the rest of your WooCommerce store. Everything that happens at the register is on the record.

Setting up a store

Store managers are WooCommerce shop managers and WordPress administrators. Here's the order most stores set things up in.

  1. Add a location

Its address is used for tax and receipts. Give it a receipt header and link it to a Stripe Terminal location for card payments.

  2. Add a register for each counter

Name it and pick its default card reader. A supervisor or manager connects its receipt printer at the register itself.

  3. Give your staff access

Give people the POS Cashier or POS Supervisor role, then choose the locations they can work at on their profile.

  4. Set up the devices

Sign in once on each tablet or computer and choose its register. A device left unused for 90 days has to be set up again, and you can revoke one at any time.

  5. Choose the rules

Set how soon an idle register locks, the receipt header and footer, which coupons need no approval, and whether WooCommerce sends its own order emails for register sales.

  6. Train, then review

Turn on training mode for a register or a person while they learn. Afterwards, the Overview and the audit log show what happened.

What you can do

On your own

  • Everything cashiers and supervisors can do
  • Add locations and registers, and choose each register's card reader
  • Choose which locations each person can work at
  • Turn on training mode for a register or a person
  • Change the register's settings
  • Reset someone's supervisor PIN
  • Read the audit log

Still done in WooCommerce

  • Products, variations, prices and stock
  • Tax settings and rates
  • Coupons
  • Customer accounts
  • Orders and refunds, which the register writes into WooCommerce like any other

Control without the busywork

The register's admin screens sit under Point of Sale in wp-admin: Overview, Locations & registers, Settings and Audit log.

Locations and registers
Each location keeps its own registers, card readers, cash drawers and reports. A register can only act on orders from its own location.
Devices you control
Each device is tied to its register on the server, so nothing in the browser can change it. Revoke a device at any time.
Staff where they belong
Location access is explicit: a new cashier can't use any register until you choose their locations. Managers limited to some locations only see those.
The register's rules
Idle lock from 1 to 60 minutes, your receipt header and footer, which product categories the register sells, and coupons allowed without approval.
An audit log nobody can edit
Approvals, PIN changes and lockouts, cash movements, failed card attempts and more, with who, which register and when. Kept for a year by default.
Today at a glance
The Overview shows today's register sales for your locations and any failed card attempts, with a setup checklist for Stripe.
PINs looked after
Reset a supervisor's PIN from their profile. If someone keeps entering wrong PINs, you see a notice in wp-admin.
Training without the mess
Practice sales are left out of reports, drawers and stock, and are deleted after seven days.

Store managers are WooCommerce shop managers and WordPress administrators. You can adjust any role’s permissions in WordPress, and the register follows them.
