For cashiers

Fast, calm sales, however you use the screen.

Everything a cashier does all day, from the first scan to counting the drawer, is designed to work by sight, by ear or by keyboard. Anything unusual is one supervisor's PIN away, right at your counter.

What the screen reader hears during a few sales
  1. “Added Ceramic Mug, $16.00.”
  2. “Order 1042 ready. $52.50 due. Choose how the customer pays.”
  3. “Change due $4.50. Paid $57.00 cash. Sale complete.”
  4. “Ready for the next sale.”
  5. “Sale parked as “Blue scarf”, 2 items. 1 parked sale on this register. The sale is empty.”
  6. “Approved by Sam Rivera.”

Missed one? F4 says it again.

A cashier's shift

The same register, the same steps, for every cashier, including those who never look at the screen.

  1. Sign in and open the drawer

Sign in on a register a manager has set up. Your text size, theme and sounds load wherever you sign in. Count in the float to open the cash drawer.

  2. Ring up the sale

Scan a barcode, press F2 to search, or tap a favorite. Each item is announced with its price.

The register says: “Added Ceramic Mug, $16.00.”

  3. Take the payment

Card on the Stripe reader, cash with change due, or a split between them. The money is always stated plainly.

The register says: “Change due $4.50. Paid $57.00 cash. Sale complete.”

  4. Park a sale when you need to

Customer forgot their wallet? Park the sale with a name, serve the next person, and recall it when they're back.

The register says: “Sale parked as “Blue scarf”, 2 items. 1 parked sale on this register. The sale is empty.”

  5. Call a supervisor for the exceptions

Start a price change, discount or return yourself. A supervisor approves it with their PIN on your register, and you carry on.

The register says: “Approved by Sam Rivera.”

  6. Count the drawer, blind

At the end of the shift, count the cash without seeing what's expected. The difference is shown, in words, after you close.

The register says: “Count the cash in the drawer. The expected amount is shown after closing.”

What you can do

On your own

  • Ring up sales and take card and cash payments
  • Split a payment between card, cash and store credit
  • Park a sale and recall it later
  • Find, attach and create customer accounts
  • Open the cash drawer, record cash paid in, and close the drawer with a blind count
  • Use any coupon your store allows without approval

With a supervisor's PIN

  • Change a price or give a discount
  • Return or exchange items
  • Make a sale tax exempt
  • Record a payment taken on a separate terminal
  • Pay cash out, or open the drawer with no sale

Made for the person at the counter

Cashiers get a register that does one job well, and nothing from wp-admin that could get in the way.

Designed for screen readers
Designed for JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver. Scans, totals, payments and errors are announced once, with the key fact first.
Missed it? Hear it again
F4 or Alt+A repeats the last announcement, and the Repeat button does the same on a tablet.
Keyboard all the way
F2 to search, Alt+O for checkout, Alt+C for cash and Alt+R for card. Press ? for every shortcut.
Your display, everywhere
Text size up to 200%, light, dark or high contrast, sounds and vibration are saved to you, not to the device.
Know it worked without looking
Optional tones for an added item, a card waiting, approved and declined, always paired with words.
Practice before the real thing
When a manager turns on training mode for you, practice sales are marked “Training: not a receipt”, never open the drawer and stay out of reports.
Customer details stay private
Customer search shows only the last four digits of a phone number and a masked email, so nothing private is read out at the counter.
Step away safely
Lock the register when you leave it, and it locks itself when idle. Switch cashier signs you out for the next person.

Store managers are WooCommerce shop managers and WordPress administrators. You can adjust any role’s permissions in WordPress, and the register follows them.
